Appraisal Section Manager

Location: Hybrid; in-office presence up to a few days per week based on team needs in Jacksonville, FL; Charlotte, NC; Mount Laurel, NJ; Portland, ME; Greenville, SC; or New York, NY, United States.

Salary: $115,440–$186,160 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead the residential lending appraisal and valuation function supporting mortgage, home equity, servicing, and default management activities.
• Manage, coach, and develop the Commercial/Residential Appraisal Section review team and provide guidance to lenders and senior management.
• Review complex and unusual residential and commercial real estate appraisals, valuation assumptions, market surveys, and appraisal reviews.
• Establish and manage appraisal and valuation standards, policies, methodologies, and appraisal ordering processes.
• Evaluate and negotiate with appraisal vendors and appraisers, including service quotes, fees, payment terms, and approved provider assignments.
• Present market updates, reconcile valuation discrepancies, participate in criticized asset reviews, and support credit and risk decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or progressive work experience, plus 7 or more years of related experience.
• State Certified General Appraiser license and/or MAI designation.
• Expert knowledge of commercial real estate valuation methodologies and techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for commercial real estate valuation, including USPAP and federal guidelines.
• Strong analytical, evaluative, communication, negotiation, prioritization, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop staff while adapting workflows to changing business priorities.

• Experience leading large teams in appraisal, valuation, or mortgage operations.
• Strong residential appraisal expertise across the full appraisal lifecycle.
• Experience leading organizational change, process improvements, and operational enhancements.
• Strong business acumen, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.
