Electrical Diagnostician (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in Detroit, Michigan; the selected candidate must report full-time to the Detroit/Hamtramck plant.

What you will do

• Own wiring and electrical diagnostic concerns affecting the assembly plant and drive timely issue resolution.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and identify root causes for wiring harness and vehicle electrical issues using test data, diagnostic logs, 3D math data, and harness measurements.
• Support plant E-FTQ and other quality metrics by improving electrical repair sufficiency and issue containment.
• Create and execute audits and standardized work for harness installation, connections, and repairs.
• Coordinate responses with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Software Integration Engineering, suppliers, GA repair, the plant Electrical Team, and other cross-functional partners.
• Support steady-state and launch activities, validate product changes, and communicate engineering updates and supplier feedback to production teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, electrical diagnostics, or vehicle electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harness design and installation, and plant quality-system concepts.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including interpretation of test data, fault codes, and harness measurements.
• Ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and escalate safety or ergonomic concerns appropriately.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and cross-functional influence skills.

Nice to have

• Plant-floor experience supporting General Assembly repair, end-of-line diagnostics, or wiring harness processes.
• Experience with GSIP, GEPICS, MERS, PRTS, SPPS, GMS, BIQ4, GDS2, MDI, CAN bus logs, snapshots, or fault files.
• Experience training production and repair personnel on vehicle electrical systems and diagnostic tools.
• Advanced statistical analysis, structured problem-solving, corrective-action documentation, or continuous-improvement experience.
• Experience maintaining plant quality standards or PQS for wiring and electrical processes.
