Engineer, Failure Analysis Process (Body Quality)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina, United States; full-time in-office attendance required. Domestic and international travel is required approximately 10–40% of the time; a valid driver's license and passport are required.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Identify and troubleshoot body-in-white process and manufacturing constraints.
• Develop and implement corrective actions for process deviations and optimize production techniques.
• Monitor process variables, analyze production data, identify root causes, and track improvement effectiveness.
• Collaborate with R&D, production, quality teams, and suppliers to define specifications and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain process documentation and prepare reports on performance, experiments, improvements, and corrective actions.
• Train production and quality teams on process improvements and troubleshooting techniques while developing procedures to minimize plant waste.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of professional experience in automotive production and quality control, including hands-on body-in-white experience.
• Strong knowledge of automotive processes, products, materials, and body-in-white tools and equipment.
• Proven experience with VDA standards is essential.
• Strong understanding of process auditing, problem-solving, data analysis, and quality procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in automotive technology or quality, or 10 years of related technical experience; a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Hands-on experience with electrical systems and mechanical assembly, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.

• Experience launching a greenfield or brownfield plant.
