Substance Abuse Counselor (Behavioral Health)

Location: On-site in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA

Salary: $23.00–$26.00 per hour plus bonus structure

What you will do

• Conduct individual alcohol and drug abuse counseling and group sessions.
• Orient patients to treatment program procedures and provide intake, readmission, and follow-up counseling.
• Assess social, educational, economic, and vocational information and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention, referrals, follow-up, and care coordination with community providers.
• Maintain patient records and documentation while complying with regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Support program implementation, staff training, OBOT services, and community activities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with PLPC, LMSW, or LAC, or a bachelor’s degree with CAC.
• Current counseling credentials and a human services-related degree in accordance with state requirements.
• Knowledge of substance abuse populations, treatment planning, human behavior, and social services.
• Ability to make effective decisions in stressful situations and handle confidential information appropriately.
• Ability to respond quickly, use sound judgment, and seek supervisory guidance when necessary.
• Behavioral health experience is preferred but not required.
