Principal Engineer - Web Application Development (Frontend)

Salary: $139,000–$249,260 per year base salary for U.S.-based roles; offers may exceed this range.

What you will do

• Define and drive the long-term architecture and strategy for a foundational web platform.
• Design and evolve design systems, shared libraries, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and platform services.
• Establish patterns for micro-frontends, modular architectures, and API integrations.
• Improve developer productivity through tools, frameworks, workflows, testing, debugging, deployment, and observability.
• Set standards for web performance, accessibility, security, reliability, monitoring, and incident response readiness.
• Influence multiple engineering organizations, advise leadership, and mentor senior and staff engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in web technologies.
• Experience designing and scaling large-scale web platforms or frontend infrastructure.
• Strong expertise in modern JavaScript and TypeScript ecosystems, including frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Experience with build systems, bundlers, and tooling such as Webpack, Vite, or Turborepo.
• Deep understanding of web performance, browser internals, networking, system design, and architectural decision-making.
• Demonstrated ability to influence architecture across multiple teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with micro-frontend architectures or large monorepos.
• Familiarity with Node.js, GraphQL, and REST APIs.
• Experience building design systems at scale.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience improving developer experience in large organizations.
