Senior Staff Field Application Engineer - Connectivity

Location: Santa Clara, CA, United States; approximately 25% travel, primarily to West Coast customer sites

What you will do

• Provide primary technical support to US OEM customers for connectivity products including AECs, ACCs, AOCs, retimers, and optical DSPs.
• Review hardware schematics and layouts, support channel simulations, and perform in-lab bring-up.
• Support APIs and CMIS, pre-sales activities, and qualification for US hyperscaler and Tier-2 cloud customers.
• Manage high-priority issues, escalations, and new feature requests with the business unit.
• Collaborate with customer-facing FAEs to connect OEM and hyperscaler or cloud requirements.
• Build and maintain trusted customer relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role.
• Deep knowledge of optical transceivers such as QSFP-DD and OSFP, retimers, and high-speed cable technologies including AECs and ACCs.
• Understanding of signal integrity, SerDes tuning, link training, and compliance testing for 100G/200G/400G/800G+ links.
• Experience supporting optical and electrical interconnects in data center environments.
• Proficiency with BERTs, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers, plus strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled information under U.S. export control laws; an export license review may be required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with IEEE 802.3, OIF, QSFP-DD, OSFP, and CMIS standards and MSAs.
• Scripting experience, such as Python.
