Senior Staff SI/PI Engineer (AI Hardware)

Location: Santa Clara, United States; hybrid

Salary: $175,000–$265,000 per year for L5 roles across US locations and functions, plus incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Own the signal and power integrity strategy for next-generation AI accelerators, including PCIe Gen6/7, CXL, LPDDR5, and custom chiplet-to-chiplet interconnects.
• Model and analyze multi-chip modules and advanced packages, including interposer routing, micro-bump parasitics, and die-to-die link budgets.
• Architect and optimize power delivery networks, including Z_Target requirements and transient voltage stability during AI workloads.
• Run pre- and post-layout channel simulations using IBIS-AMI models and define jitter, crosstalk, insertion-loss, and return-loss budgets for 112G+ channels.
• Lead lab validation and correlate simulations with 50GHz+ VNAs, TDRs, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
• Translate simulation results into PCB layout constraints and mentor hardware and layout engineers on SI/PI practices.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field focused on electromagnetics or signal integrity.
• 12+ years of SI/PI design experience for high-performance networking, GPU, or server platforms.
• Expertise with SI tools such as Ansys HFSS, Cadence Sigrity, Keysight ADS, or Simbeor, and PI tools such as Ansys SIwave, Cadence PowerSI, or CST.
• Hands-on experience with 112G SerDes, high-speed memory architectures, PAM4 signaling, and FEC effects on link margins.
• Experience using 50GHz+ VNAs, TDRs, and real-time or sampling oscilloscopes.
• Hybrid work in Santa Clara, United States.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PCB material science, including glass weave effects, skin-effect loss, and copper roughness modeling.
• Python or MATLAB experience for simulation-data processing and automated sweep analysis.
• Familiarity with Open Compute Project hardware specifications for AI modules.
