Senior Software Engineer (Elasticsearch)

Salary: USD $124,000–$329,200 per year, plus potential bonus, stock, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build, enhance, and operate scalable infrastructure for large Elasticsearch clusters.
• Plan capacity, predict growth, and scale platforms to support increasing developer and agentic traffic.
• Optimize index creation, population, repair, reindexing, search performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Establish observability, monitoring, incident playbooks, disaster recovery, and failure-testing processes.
• Investigate outages, participate in on-call rotations, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
• Collaborate on technical designs, open-source projects, and infrastructure improvements with software and platform teams.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, or equivalent education and experience, with production coding experience.
• 1+ year of technical leadership experience.
• 6+ years building, deploying, and maintaining Elasticsearch at scale.
• 3+ years using a general-purpose programming language such as Go, Ruby, or Rust.
• Experience with infrastructure security, compliance, monitoring, capacity planning, incident response, and disaster recovery.
• Must be based in the United States for this remote role.

Nice to have

• Experience with Lucene, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or Solr.
• Experience with search relevance, scoring, and search experience development.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
