Senior Engineer- Commissioning (Substations)

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, with travel between Connecticut and Massachusetts. Work takes place in office and field environments and may include emergency storm assignments outside normal hours and location.

Salary: $129,450–$143,830 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Develop and implement testing and commissioning plans and procedures for complex transmission and distribution substation projects.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Protection & Controls Engineering, and Test stakeholders.
• Commission substation equipment including breakers, transformers, controls, systems, relays, and metering.
• Review, collect, and accept project test data while overseeing compliance with industry and company standards.
• Perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and conduct project audits focused on safety, human performance, and reliability.
• Provide technical guidance and support the development or training of less experienced commissioning engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• At least five years of utility distribution or transmission engineering experience.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering with a focus on substation testing and commissioning.
• Valid Connecticut or Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Applicants requiring immigration-related visa sponsorship will not be considered.
• Availability to travel between Connecticut and Massachusetts, work outside normal business hours, and respond to emergency storm assignments.
