Product Quality Engineer (AI Hardware)

Location: On-site in San Jose, United States. The role involves regular work at supplier and contract manufacturing factories. Relocation support is available for candidates moving to San Jose.

Salary: $150,000–$225,000 per year plus significant equity.

What you will do

• Lead quality assurance across ASIC/chip, semiconductor, PCB/A, component, server manufacturing, and rack integration suppliers.
• Establish IQC, IPQC, and OQC processes, inspection criteria, control plans, and quality gates for materials, PCB/A production, system assembly, and rack integration.
• Oversee SMT quality processes, including SPI, AOI, and X-ray inspection, with suppliers and contract manufacturers.
• Define system-level test coverage, burn-in protocols, reliability validation, and production acceptance criteria with Test Engineering.
• Drive failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective and preventive actions using 8D, CAPA, and FMEA.
• Track quality metrics and support ECO reviews, NPI builds, supplier audits, production ramp, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality for ASIC/chip, semiconductor, PCB/A, server, or other high-performance hardware products.
• Hands-on experience with component quality, L10 server assembly, and L11 rack integration at Tier 1 contract manufacturers or ODMs.
• Strong knowledge of PCB/A manufacturing, SMT, SPI, AOI, and X-ray inspection.
• Experience establishing IQC, IPQC, and OQC systems in high-volume manufacturing.
• Knowledge of 8D, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, Cpk, control plans, yield, DPPM, defect density, and production escapes.
• Comfort working on-site at supplier and contract manufacturing factories in the United States. Strong cross-functional communication skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI ASIC or high-performance compute hardware.
• Experience with L11 rack-level integration and validation.
• Exposure to thermal and power stress testing or system reliability engineering.
• Experience ramping complex systems from NPI into mass production.
• Electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering background.
