Managing Consultant, Climate Change and Sustainability

Location: Hybrid position with part-time telecommuting; office in Arlington, Virginia, United States. Up to 5% domestic travel.

Salary: $126,628.20–$166,088.00 per year

What you will do

• Develop and improve greenhouse gas emissions inventories, carbon footprints, quantification tools, and lifecycle assessments.
• Analyze federal, state, local, and international greenhouse gas mitigation policies, regulations, costs, benefits, and emissions projections.
• Support sustainability planning, carbon credit and offset strategies, materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, and ESG-related outputs.
• Conduct climate change impact and vulnerability analyses, air quality and health risk assessments, noise assessments, and climate action planning studies.
• Manage environmental performance data covering greenhouse gases, energy, water, and waste; develop dashboards and benchmark performance trends.
• Manage technically complex projects, communicate with clients and stakeholders, and supervise technical support staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in sustainability management or consulting in public agencies.
• Experience with GHG emissions quantification, emissions inventories and mitigation, climate action planning, air quality, health risk, and noise impact studies.
• Experience developing and presenting technical environmental analyses to technical and non-technical audiences.
• At least 2 years of experience with survey development and lifecycle assessments.
• Knowledge of the environmental impacts and chemistry of greenhouse gas emissions and methods for quantifying emissions over time.
