Supervisor, Field Engineering (Electrical Utility)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; field work and travel between MA, CT, and NH are required.

Annual salary: $133,060–$147,840, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Supervise engineers and technicians delivering engineering assignments and complex electrical utility projects.
• Lead field construction and maintenance relay testing and protection and control scheme testing for T&D substation equipment.
• Plan and direct testing under the preventative maintenance program and analyze test results to recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise for outage coordination, resource management, work sequencing, technical design, and implementation.
• Enforce safety practices through field audits, safety meetings, incident analysis, and safety reporting.
• Manage employee performance, union contract application, contractor and supplier relationships, customer issues, and on-call or emergency restoration activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of electrical utility maintenance, construction, testing, protection and control systems, and utility testing equipment and software.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams, blueprints, and vendor instruction manuals.
• Valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring immigration-related sponsorship to start employment will not be considered.

Nice to have

• Experience in transmission, distribution, and power systems engineering.
• Previous supervisory experience.
