Forward Deployed Engineer (TypeScript)

Location: Remote in Canada; occasional travel for company-wide or departmental meetings, typically 1–2 times per year, plus customer-site travel as needed.

Salary: CAD 115,000–155,000 base annually, depending on skills, experience, qualifications, and internal pay equity.

What you will do

• Own the technical side of customer onboarding, including legacy data extraction, field and workflow mapping, transformations, staging dry-runs, delta reviews, and production cutovers.
• Translate jurisdiction operations into product configurations covering case types, workflows, fees, templates, and permissions.
• Write migration transformations, integration adapters, and extraction tooling using TypeScript and Python.
• Integrate customer systems including GIS and parcel data, payments, REST/webhooks, and SSO through SAML/OIDC with municipal Entra or Okta tenants.
• Partner with implementation consultants, SaaS platform engineers, government customers, and technical stakeholders to prioritize scalable and reusable solutions.
• Build the Forward Deployed Engineer playbook, including runbooks, mapping templates, extraction scripts, and estimation models, while using AI coding agents in delivery work.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a customer-facing deployment role.
• Strong TypeScript, SQL, data migration, and legacy-schema analysis skills; comfort using Python for extraction tooling.
• Strong understanding of LLMs and agentic automations.
• Experience with SSO using SAML/OIDC and integrations using REST or webhooks.
• Comfort working directly with non-technical government customers, IT directors, GIS teams, and security stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed and complete comprehensive background checks.

Nice to have

• Govtech, regtech, or compliance-heavy vertical SaaS experience.
• Forward Deployed Engineer experience at companies such as Palantir, Scale, or Retool.
• Experience being the first person in a function and building its operating playbook.
• Advanced use of AI coding agents in real delivery work.
