Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Jersey City, New Jersey, USA; hybrid work with 3–4 days in the NY-area office and 1 day remote. Travel required 25%–30%.

Dyania Health develops Synapsis AI, a clinical reasoning system that analyzes medical records to identify patients needing care, support clinical trials, and accelerate medical research while keeping data inside hospital systems.

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical liaison for healthcare clients throughout Synapsis AI deployment and onboarding.
• Gather client requirements, coordinate deployment timelines and releases, and support cybersecurity reviews and technical evaluations.
• Analyze client data environments, map databases and sources of truth, and define SQL logic for complex medical data pipelines.
• Build and fine-tune ETL, event-driven, and workflow-based pipelines that support clinical projects and automate operational tasks.
• Monitor service health and system activity in production, identify issues and opportunities, and implement operational improvements.
• Translate client and project needs into actionable requirements for Engineering, Product, and other internal teams while partnering with clinical specialists.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience using Python or similar languages, including 2+ years of customer-facing technical work.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores, including schema design, query performance tuning, and data mapping; examples include MSSQL, Postgres, and MongoDB.
• Production experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, event-driven or workflow-based architectures, and distributed retriable jobs.
• Experience leading customer technical sessions for requirements gathering, presentations, and debugging, with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to analyze systems, communicate risks or failures, adapt quickly, and work effectively in ambiguous, fast-scaling environments.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in AI, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience building data-intensive systems in healthcare, bioinformatics, or another regulated domain.
• Experience automating processes with generative AI tools and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
• Startup experience, including building products from 0 to 1 and taking systems from conception to launch.
• Understanding of medical terminology, EMR data structures, clinical logic, and research methodology.
