Professional Services Engineer, Claris (FileMaker)

Location: United States; home office available. Listed work locations include West Chicago, Illinois; San Diego, California; and Sunnyvale, California.

Base pay: $113,200–$169,900 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain tailored FileMaker solutions for customers, partners, and internal teams.
• Consult with customers during discovery projects and complex multi-month implementations.
• Lead requirements gathering, architecture, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and maintenance across the full lifecycle.
• Support product evaluations, resolve technical issues, and build relationships with external developers and engineers.
• Modernize legacy systems by standardizing workflows, improving reliability, and applying current platform capabilities.
• Share customer and developer insights with Professional Services, Product, and Engineering while supporting the Claris developer ecosystem.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Claris FileMaker solutions.
• Strong knowledge of FileMaker architecture, data modeling, scripting, layouts, integrations, security, testing, and deployment.
• Experience translating business requirements into reliable technical solutions and leading projects through the complete software development lifecycle.
• Experience working directly with customers, partners, developers, or other external technical stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Strong commitment to solution quality, testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability.

Nice to have

• Professional services, technical consulting, solution architecture, or customer-facing engineering experience.
• Experience modernizing legacy FileMaker solutions or delivering large-scale, business-critical implementations.
• Familiarity with APIs, web services, cloud platforms, authentication technologies, and third-party integrations.
• Experience incorporating AI services or AI-enabled workflows into business applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
