Area Procurement Specialist

Location: Niagara Falls, New York, USA; supports multiple facilities in the NY/PA area. The role involves working between office and industrial environments and approximately 30% semi-regular travel, potentially including overnight travel.

What you will do

• Lead local and regional procurement activities for assigned facilities, from supplier qualification and onboarding through performance management.
• Prepare and manage RFPs, bid evaluations, market comparisons, negotiations, contract awards, amendments, extensions, and dispute resolution.
• Issue, approve, place, and expedite purchase orders across multiple sites while maintaining compliance with company policies and governmental regulations.
• Develop sourcing opportunities based on maintenance plans and coordinate procurement timelines with facility installation schedules.
• Manage supplier quality, cost-reduction, performance analysis, compliance oversight, and procurement KPI reporting.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, storekeepers, buyers, and corporate and regional procurement teams to identify savings and optimize shared spare-parts inventory.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or a technical discipline.
• 5–7+ years of procurement and supply management experience.
• Demonstrated negotiation, supplier relationship management, data analysis, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Working proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Knowledge of procurement processes, contracts, change management, Total Cost of Ownership modeling, KPIs, and compliance oversight.
• Ability to work in industrial environments, conduct regular facility tours and walk-downs, and travel approximately 30%.

Nice to have

• MBA, CPSM, or PMP certification.
• Experience with PeopleSoft ERP, SAP, and MS Project or similar project-based planning tools.
• Understanding of regional labor markets for labor subcontracting and contract services.
