Distribution Automation Technician (SCADA)

Salary: Starting at $37.39 per hour, progressing according to the union contract

What you will do

• Install, program, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair SCADA hardware and systems for the electric distribution grid.
• Service remote terminal units, data concentrators, HMIs, communication systems, centralized servers, sensors, meters, and other electronic devices.
• Configure and update SCADA drawings and records for circuit breakers, reclosers, line sensors, fault locators, smart switches, feeder metering, alarm dialers, and IEDs.
• Use electrical and electronic test instruments to diagnose, test, and calibrate equipment.
• Analyze communication system failures, coordinate issue resolution with carriers or internal personnel, and return equipment to service.
• Participate in on-call and storm assignments and support emergency restoration activities.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or an equivalent qualification.
• 0–3+ years of related experience; this is an entry-level position.
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic components, circuitry, systems, operating systems, and testing techniques.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, wiring, logic, and interconnection diagrams.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively in verbal and written form.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and annual maintenance of Critical Infrastructure Protection certification required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of CONVEX switching and tagging procedures.
• Working knowledge of Eversource safety rules and practices.
