SCADA & Automation Engineer (Oil & Gas)

Location: Fully remote or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado; applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States. Periodic field assignments lasting multiple weeks are required in Texas and New Mexico, with approximately 25% travel.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year. The range is based on the Denver, Colorado labor market.

What you will do

• Design electrical power systems, including one-line and three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring, grounding, conduit, cable routing, and equipment specifications.
• Install, configure, wire, and test SEL relaying and control equipment, including SEL RTAC systems.
• Program, install, and test SCADA and PLC systems.
• Configure IEC61850 GOOSE, DNP3, MODBUS, and other SCADA protocol files and network architectures.
• Prepare project specifications, RFIs, studies, and technical reports.
• Perform field testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, quality reviews, and client coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power focus is preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• Knowledge of medium- and high-voltage power systems and strong SCADA expertise.
• Experience configuring, testing, and commissioning IEC61850, DNP3, MODBUS, or other SCADA protocols, plus experience with SEL equipment.
• Experience creating network architecture diagrams and proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States and the ability to travel periodically for multi-week field assignments.

Nice to have

• FE licensure or certification.
• SEL RTAC experience.
• Experience with Oil & Gas private-use transmission and distribution networks.
