Engineer, Transmission Interconnections and Services (Hybrid Schedule)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States. Hybrid schedule requires at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays; employees must be able to work five days in the office when required. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire may be necessary, along with emergency restoration assignments.

Annual salary: $100,440–$111,600, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Execute transmission interconnection projects under the ISO New England tariff, including Schedules 22, 23, and 25.
• Coordinate project attributes, deliverables, and communications with internal stakeholders, external companies, ISO-NE, and regulatory organizations.
• Develop and administer contracts and enabling agreements with business counterparts.
• Manage multiple interconnection and related internal projects in a matrix environment.
• Interpret transmission system planning study results and basic power flow simulations.
• Report to senior management and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of utility experience, including general management, lead, or project management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, power systems, business administration, computer science, information technology, or a related technical field.
• Working knowledge of generator interconnection processes for ISO-NE or comparable RTOs/ISOs.
• Strong understanding of substations, transmission lines, protection and control concepts, and basic electrical one-line diagrams.
• Expertise in negotiation, written and verbal communication, formal presentations, relationship building, and influencing others.
• Valid motor vehicle license required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Project management certification or MBA.
• Experience with power flow simulations, power systems planning and operations, power pool operations, emerging power markets, and regulatory interfaces.
• Knowledge of ISO-NE tariff Schedules 22 and 23, Eversource work practices, engineering and construction guidelines, and safety requirements.
