Associate Engineer, Substation Engineering (Electrical Engineering)

Salary: $82,800–$92,000 annual salary, plus potential incentive

What you will do

• Support engineering assignments for electric substation construction projects across Transmission and Distribution.
• Develop project requirements, scopes, engineering designs, material orders, cost estimates, schedules, and capital authorization documents.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and design teams, including preparation, review, and issuance of engineering drawings.
• Hire and oversee contract engineering firms by developing scopes of work, reviewing submittals, and approving invoices.
• Collaborate with System Planning, Distributed Energy Resources, Asset Management, Project Management, Scheduling, Siting and Permitting, and Plant Accounting teams.
• Develop subject-matter expertise in substation equipment and manage equipment specifications, RFP participation, failure analysis, and manufacturer documentation reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Zero to three years of experience in substation engineering, power systems, or a related electric utility field.
• Familiarity with transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, reclosers, capacitor banks, instrument transformers, reactors, switches, batteries, and associated controls is desired.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Visa or immigration-related sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring sponsorship to start employment will not be considered.
