Production Team Leader (Defense Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Lead daily production execution for an assigned area or shift, meeting safety, quality, output, and delivery targets.
• Plan staffing, allocate operators, match skills, and distribute workloads according to takt and line priorities.
• Run daily tier meetings and visual management, escalate blockers using data, and track actions through closure.
• Ensure standard work compliance, in-process quality checks, traceability, documentation, and immediate defect containment.
• Coach and develop operators while coordinating onboarding, certification, and re-certification with Training and DOJO.
• Drive shopfloor continuous improvement through 5S, waste removal, defect reduction, process stabilization, audits, and collaboration with Maintenance and Engineering.

Requirements

• 7–8+ years of experience in manufacturing environments.
• At least 2 years leading shopfloor teams with shift or area responsibility.
• Strong understanding of production KPIs, including output, schedule adherence, FPY, scrap/rework, and OTD/OTIF.
• Experience with defect containment, structured root cause analysis using 5-Why or 8D/A3, and action follow-up.
• Experience working in ramp-up environments with changing priorities, shortages, constraints, and high execution intensity.
• Strong communication and coaching skills, including the ability to lead multicultural teams and enforce standard work discipline.
