IT Senior Software Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: Berlin, CT, United States; hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Must be able to work up to five days in the office when required and travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.

Salary: $127,350–$141,500 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Design, implement, modify, and maintain software systems and application features.
• Own major portions of application development architecture, including front-end or back-end domains.
• Drive software change and release management processes and improve software development lifecycle maturity.
• Collaborate with IT management, development teams, technical delivery teams, and vendors to deliver technology solutions.
• Define engineering patterns, improve testing practices, document critical systems, automate workflows, and reduce technical debt.
• Coach, review, delegate work to, and mentor lower-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; an advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 5–8 years of related experience with advanced to expert knowledge in the discipline.
• Experience in a utility environment and/or Maximo system development is required.
• Ability to independently scope and implement larger user stories and make well-reasoned software design decisions.
• Experience navigating legacy code, handling ambiguity, elevating testing practices, and automating development workflows.
• Must be available for emergency restoration assignments and travel between MA, CT, and NH as necessary.
