Senior Financial Accountant

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid setup. Candidates must be based in the Netherlands or hold a valid Dutch work permit. No relocation support is provided.

Salary: €68,000–€75,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own key parts of month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including accruals, intercompany reconciliations, fixed assets and balance sheet substantiation.
• Ensure accurate, complete and well-documented balance sheet and P&L reporting.
• Support statutory reporting, audits and auditor queries.
• Oversee accounts payable, employee reimbursements, payment runs, payroll processing, cash monitoring and liquidity activities.
• Manage VAT filings and other tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
• Improve financial controls, documentation, automation, tooling and AI-enabled finance processes in collaboration with Finance, FP&A, Product, Engineering and Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, VAT and tax regulations.
• Experience with audits, audit support and payment processing cycles.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, clear communication and a proactive, structured working style.
• Based in the Netherlands or holding a valid Dutch work permit.

Nice to have

• CPA, RA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with Exact Online or comparable accounting software.
• Experience coaching junior team members.
• Background in a marketplace, platform, payments, SaaS, e-commerce or high-volume transaction environment.
