Senior Software Engineer, Motion Planning (Robotics)

Salary: $168,000–$247,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants

What you will do

• Design, implement, and ship real-time behavior and motion planning features for complex urban and suburban driving scenarios.
• Deploy production-level autonomy systems for safe, reliable, fully autonomous delivery.
• Lead root-cause analysis and eliminate planner-related disengagements and long-tail failures.
• Build scalable evaluation, simulation, and validation frameworks for safe rollout to new geo-fenced regions.
• Collaborate with perception, prediction, controls, and platform teams on end-to-end autonomy improvements.
• Contribute to architecture decisions improving planner robustness, generalization, and computational efficiency.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong C++ software engineering experience building robust, production-quality systems.
• Experience developing or deploying motion planning, robotics, or real-time decision-making systems.
• Experience with data-driven evaluation, simulation, and performance metrics.
• Proficiency using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor throughout the software development lifecycle.
