Focus on bringing perception algorithms to physical robots, debugging field failures, and scaling robust systems across platforms, environments, and missions.
Location: Remote, based in the United States; company headquarters in Irvine, California
Salary: $70,000–$300,000 per year, plus benefits and equity

What you will do
- Design, implement, and maintain perception systems for autonomous robots in real-world and off-road environments.
- Develop and improve localization, mapping, SLAM, state estimation, and sensor-fusion capabilities.
- Integrate LiDAR, cameras, RADAR, inertial sensors, and new sensing modalities into robotic platforms.
- Deploy perception algorithms on physical robots and debug issues found during testing and field operations.
- Build performance metrics, regression tests, and tools that improve robustness, scalability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with autonomy, controls, platform, research, operations, and customer-facing teams.
Requirements
- PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or MS with 2+ years of relevant experience; or BS with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience with robot perception, localization, mapping, and SLAM for real-world robotic systems.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying perception software in field robotics, beyond simulation.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and ROS or ROS2.
- Experience with VIO, LIO, mapping, sensor fusion, sensor calibration, and hardware-level debugging.
- Ability to own complex subsystems from design through deployment and long-term maintenance.
Nice to have
- Experience with thermal, LWIR, or multispectral sensing and custom sensor-rig integration.
- Experience with CI/CD, performance regression testing, and benchmarking.
- Experience aligning perception stacks across multiple platforms or product lines.
- Leadership in research, field operations, or mentoring engineers and researchers.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices.
