Supervisor, Substation Operations (Waltham/Somerville)

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts, United States; travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required. The role includes outside field work, job-site travel, shift work, weekends, rotational off-hour on-call coverage, and emergency restoration assignments.

Salary: $126,820–$140,910 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Supervise crews performing construction and maintenance activities at transmission and distribution substations.
• Coordinate staffing, materials, equipment, contractors, and schedules for assigned substation assets.
• Oversee the reliability, condition, operation, maintenance, and repair of substation equipment.
• Analyze inspection, testing, maintenance, and operational data and ensure accurate database entry.
• Manage employee performance, apply local union agreements, and resolve grievances and concerns.
• Lead safety initiatives, customer issue resolution, outage response, and emergency restoration activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience; at least a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Five or more years of related experience.
• Knowledge of safe construction, operation, and maintenance practices for electric transmission and distribution facilities at secondary and primary operating voltages.
• Detailed knowledge of power system maintenance and operation, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States; immigration-related visa sponsorship is not available.
