Principal Product Manager (Routing Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid, with an average requirement to work two days per week from an HPE office; US-based salary information is provided for California.

Salary: $172,000–$349,000 annual base salary in the United States, California; variable incentives may also be offered.

What you will do

• Lead the end-to-end strategy and operational roadmap for the ACX routing product portfolio.
• Define product requirements for access and aggregation, edge services, core, peering, and data center interconnect use cases.
• Drive requirements for next-generation routing platforms and optical transceivers, including WAN solutions for AI training and inference networks.
• Build value propositions, customer segments, business cases, and Market Requirement Documents.
• Partner with engineering on feasibility, planning, delivery, and complex new product introductions.
• Manage product configuration, margins, and go-to-market strategies to optimize revenue and market share.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Typically 10+ years of related experience managing hardware portfolios and high-complexity NPI programs.
• Deep expertise in BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, LDP, and PCEP routing protocols.
• Strong knowledge of MPLS, RSVP-TE, SR-MPLS, SRv6, Ethernet, VXLAN, L2VPN, and L3VPN.
• Familiarity with Netconf, gRPC, OpenConfig, streaming telemetry, SNMP, RPKI, IPsec, and MACsec.
• Experience with cost-efficient solution building, financial performance analysis, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership.
