TL;DR
Senior Safety Advisor - Shared Services (Utilities) (Occupational Safety and Health): Developing and improving occupational safety and health programs across electric, gas, water utility, field, plant, and office environments with an accent on regulatory compliance, program oversight, and safety performance analysis. Focus on designing safety solutions, coordinating emergency restoration assignments, and managing complex safety programs across MA, CT, and NH.

Location: Berlin, CT, United States. Travel between MA, CT, and NH is required, with occasional travel beyond the assigned region. Emergency restoration assignments and rotating on-call work are required.

Annual salary: $115,250–$128,050, plus potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and improve occupational safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide program oversight and facilitation to field operations, safety advisors, safety vendors, and operations management.
  • Analyze safety statistics and performance data, identify causal factors, and support program needs assessments.
  • Coordinate resources and provide strategic solutions for regulatory compliance and safety performance.
  • Support safety management and act as the safety manager when assigned.
  • Lead or support emergency restoration assignments, including safety branch director responsibilities within the ICS system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Safety Management, Engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Five to eight years of related safety experience, including program management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of company safety rules, construction site safety, OSHA and DOT regulations, and applicable state requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication, organization, project leadership, analysis, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams, build credibility with management and skilled craft employees, and address performance issues constructively.
  • Must be available for emergency restoration assignments, rotating on-call work, and required travel across MA, CT, and NH.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of distribution operations, electrical and gas systems, construction practices, and renewable energy practices.
  • Advanced Safety Certificate, ASP, CSP, or other safety-related certifications.
