Senior Controls/SCADA Engineer (Energy Storage)

Location: Germany — Erlangen; hybrid work from a German office. Travel throughout EMEA is required.

What you will do

• Drive project-specific controls, application modes, grid integration, and related system requirements.
• Integrate hirify.global battery energy storage system controls with TSO EMS platforms by developing logic and control schemes for remote and local operation.
• Support field engineers during commissioning and testing, resolving controls-related issues.
• Develop, implement, and test controls applications for utility-scale energy storage products.
• Create standardized FAT and SAT procedures, execute laboratory and prototype testing, and reduce commissioning time.
• Maintain controls infrastructure documentation, change-control procedures, system recovery strategies, and performance reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer or industrial engineering focused on automation and controls, or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of relevant controls, software, or programming experience in the power utility or related industry, including power plant design, operation, and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electricity transmission and distribution, grid codes, EMS systems, and grid-services algorithms.
• Experience with SCADA protocols and equipment, including IEC 60870-5-101/103/104, IEC 61850 MMS, DNP3, Modbus, TCP/IP, PLCs, RTUs, SEL RTAC, relays, meters, gateways, and data concentrators.
• Experience with Linux, Python, shell/bash scripting, GitHub, Simulink, C/C++, and high-voltage electrical equipment such as inverters, transformers, I/O racks, telecommunications, and controllers.
• Fluent English is required. German or another language is desirable.
