Senior Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Munich, Germany. EU citizenship required. The role includes travel and onsite support for OEM integrations and end customers, including elevated-risk areas.

What you will do

• Design and implement guidance, navigation, and control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles.
• Develop and maintain PX4 autopilot features, drivers, targets, and hirify.global applications on ARM Cortex-M devices.
• Contribute to open-source projects including Mavlink and UAVCAN, as well as the Skynode autopilot hardware product.
• Collaborate with engineers and the Apps & SDK team to solve complex UAV design and control challenges and improve tooling.
• Support OEM integrations and end customers directly, including onsite work when needed.
• Maintain testing, quality assurance, and simulation pipelines for reliable and safe software development.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in relevant software engineering roles.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Professional C/C++ development experience on real-time and Linux platforms.
• Deep understanding of programming robotic systems with ROS/ROS2.
• Working knowledge of PX4 or comparable autopilot technology and simulation, plus containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Experience delivering robotic systems for significant government or enterprise programs and willingness to travel, including to elevated-risk areas.
