Electrician Fully Qualified (Norwalk, CT)

Salary: Starting at $54.96 per hour, progressing according to the union contract.

What you will do

• Inspect, maintain, repair, install, test, and operate substation, transmission, and distribution equipment.
• Work with circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, voltage regulators, relays, controls, cables, bus work, insulators, disconnects, and related apparatus.
• Perform switching operations at any voltage and follow switching and tagging procedures.
• Conduct electrical tests using meggers, ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, contact-resistance testers, gas-quality meters, and other instruments.
• Read wiring diagrams, one-line and three-line diagrams, blueprints, plans, and schematics; identify and report abnormal conditions.
• Support training, escort non-qualified personnel, maintain substation grounds, and respond to on-call, storm restoration, and emergency assignments.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in the Electrician Time Merit Progression Program or five years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional formal education is preferred.
• New hires must hold an Electrician E-1 or E-2 license, or provide documented prior qualification as an electrician at another utility. Other candidates must complete the Electrician Time Merit Progression Program.
• Experience in energy delivery, distribution, or transmission systems is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid CDL license and Switching and Tagging certification.
• Applicants must successfully pass the CAST Construction and Skilled Trades Selection System test. Visa sponsorship is not available.
