Field Service Technician Level II (Power Distribution)

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; occasional travel of up to 75% to regional field offices, vendor sites, and customer job sites may be required.

What you will do

• Perform start-up, commissioning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair of switchboards, control panels, and power products.
• Install and modify electrical and mechanical components, including circuit breakers, bus bars, subpanels, control wiring, and power cabling.
• Analyze system failures, identify root causes, and determine corrective actions for moderately complex technical issues.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, control wiring, and networking equipment in the field.
• Coordinate with customers, contractors, Project Managers, manufacturing, engineering, and internal support teams to resolve field issues.
• Document service activities, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, parts usage, open items, and follow-up requirements; support Level I technician training as needed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience supporting switchgear start-up and commissioning.
• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and power distribution systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make field decisions, and escalate issues appropriately.

Nice to have

• Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent experience with switchgear, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, or related commissioning activities.
• One to three years of related electrical, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, or field service experience.
