Associate Civil Engineer (Hybrid Schedule) (Electrical Substations)

Location: Berlin, CT, United States. Hybrid schedule requires at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the possibility of up to five office days when needed. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire and site visits to substations are required.

Salary: $82,800–$92,000 annually, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Design and analyze electrical substation foundations, support structures, oil containment systems, sanitary and water installations, site grading, and stormwater management systems.
• Develop project scopes, specifications, engineering designs, material orders, cost estimates, and construction-phase plans in accordance with applicable codes and Eversource standards.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, project management personnel, vendors, and construction contractors to coordinate safe and constructible substation modifications.
• Review vendor submittals, construction drawings, and design documentation before release to contractors.
• Support construction activities by resolving field questions and approving changes to issued designs.
• Perform stormwater assessments and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective actions for structure or equipment failures.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology; a BS in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• 0–3 years of related experience in civil or structural design, construction, compliance, project management, or electrical substation infrastructure.
• Knowledge or experience in site grading, stormwater management, oil containment, sanitary and water installations, and civil or structural calculations.
• Effective communication, computer, and technical writing skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to substation sites and between MA, CT, and NH.
• Visa sponsorship is not available; applicants requiring immigration-related sponsorship to start employment will not be considered.

Nice to have

• MS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering with a focus on structural design and analysis.
• FE and/or PE license.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MathCAD, RISA, STAAD Pro, DS Anchor, L-Pile, PLS Tower, TNX Tower, Retain Pro, or HydroCAD.
