Associate Civil Engineer, Transmission Line Engineering

Location: Hartford, CT, United States. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required as necessary, with occasional to significant travel by car. Emergency restoration assignments may require work outside normal responsibilities, hours, and location.

Annual salary: $82,800–$92,000, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design and analyze high-voltage and extra-high-voltage electric transmission lines.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, estimates, calculations, sketches, and project documentation.
• Conduct engineering studies and complete non-routine projects with increasing independence and complexity.
• Plan, estimate, schedule, monitor, and independently manage engineering project activities and interfaces.
• Coordinate with Transmission System Planning, Siting and Permitting, Project Management, Real Estate, vendors, and other transmission functions.
• Support studies and testimony for the Connecticut Siting Council, Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board, and other regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
• 0–3 years of related experience required.
• Experience or ability to work with Power Line Systems software, including PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and TOWER, as well as L-Pile, MFAD, EPRI EMF Workstation, Mathcad, and AutoCAD.
• Effective written and oral communication, teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, and technical analysis skills.
• Valid driver’s license required, with availability for travel across MA, CT, and NH.
