Team Lead - Electrical Engineer (Renewable Substations)

Location: Remote for candidates authorized to work full-time in the United States, or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado. Limited travel of 10–15% and some field work may be required.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, based on the Denver, Colorado labor market.

What you will do

• Lead engineers, drafters, designers, technicians, and field service personnel in completing electrical engineering scopes.
• Design renewable substation and power system components, including one-line and three-line diagrams, protection and control systems, SCADA, communications, grounding, equipment selection, and cable routing.
• Develop computer-based models and perform short-circuit, load-flow, relay coordination, arc-flash, motor-starting, power-factor, harmonic, and related studies.
• Develop, test, wire, and install protective relay and control systems; review equipment data, manuals, testing reports, submittals, and design quality.
• Manage budgets, schedules, scope expectations, change-order technical write-ups, proposals, and client communication.
• Mentor and coach team members, support development plans, provide field assistance, and contribute to business development and value engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution; an electric power focus is preferred.
• At least 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
• FE certification required; PE license preferred.
• Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, motor control centers, and industrial instrumentation and controls.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP.
• Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. Strong command of English and effective interpersonal and mentoring skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, or BESS.
