Head of Learning Skills and Development

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States of America. Relocation benefits are available.

Salary: $233,450–$433,550 USD annually, plus a discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.

What you will do

• Govern the Learning, Skills, and Development operating model and define the learning strategy for U.S. Commercial, Medical Affairs, and Government Affairs.
• Align learning strategy with business priorities and anticipate future capability needs, including AI-powered tools and digital learning frameworks.
• Oversee launch readiness and field training strategies for critical next-generation therapeutic launches.
• Lead the design and implementation of leadership, therapeutic expertise, transformation, and functional development programs.
• Establish learning and performance measures, analyze trends, and adjust strategy based on business outcomes.
• Lead the Strategic Workforce Strategy and an 80-person department, including coaching, succession planning, and professional development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in Education, Organizational Psychology, Human Capital Management, or a related field is preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Learning & Development, Leadership Development, Talent Management, Organizational Development, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years in corporate learning or a similar senior-level role involving learning and development, field readiness, or organizational effectiveness.
• Experience building enterprise-wide leadership development strategies in high-growth and commercial-stage organizations.
• Expertise in Learning Sciences, Instructional Design, and modern learning experience tools and methodologies.
• Strong strategic influencing, systems thinking, root cause analysis, problem-solving, coaching, and people leadership skills; life sciences or pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
