Lead Mechanical Engineer (Gas Power Generation)

Location: Remote/traveling for corporate use only; company headquarters in Avon, Minnesota, United States.

Salary: $121,680–$176,436 annual individual compensation.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical engineering execution for utility-scale gas power generation projects from estimating through construction support and closeout.
• Develop preliminary mechanical designs, Basis of Design documents, engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical documentation.
• Review equipment layouts, P&IDs, specifications, vendor drawings, and third-party engineering packages.
• Coordinate engineering activities with Owners, Engineers of Record, Project Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Construction, manufacturers, and engineering firms.
• Support equipment selection, procurement strategies, vendor evaluations, and technical submittal reviews.
• Lead constructability reviews, value engineering, technical risk assessments, standards development, and continuous improvement while mentoring engineers and CAD designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college.
• Professional Engineer license required or obtainable within one year of hire.
• Seven or more years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in utility-scale power generation, industrial facilities, EPC, heavy infrastructure, or related industries.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating complex mechanical engineering projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment layouts, piping systems, fuel gas systems, cooling water systems, auxiliary mechanical equipment, and power generation infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Experience with gas turbine facilities, reciprocating engine plants, simple-cycle or combined-cycle power plants, or balance of plant systems.
• Experience working with gas turbine OEMs, reciprocating engine manufacturers, or EPC firms.
• Experience collaborating with Owners, Engineers of Record, equipment manufacturers, EPC partners, and construction teams.
