Senior Employee Relations Manager (California Labor Law)

Location: Fully onsite five days a week in San Francisco, CA; must be based in Sunnyvale or San Francisco, CA. Periodic travel of approximately 25% is required.

Salary: $195,000–$230,000 per year plus bonus and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Conduct and document most internal investigations into workplace complaints and concerns.
• Act as a trusted point of contact for sensitive, confidential, and emotionally charged employee matters.
• Advise managers and People Success Partners on difficult conversations, performance issues, and complex policy questions.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, and People Operations to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant employee relations processes.
• Provide guidance on California requirements, including harassment prevention training, meal and rest breaks, wage-and-hour matters, and independent contractor guidelines.
• Identify workplace risks, report trends to leadership, and deliver manager training on conflict resolution and documentation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of deep HR generalist experience and experience advising leaders on complex employee matters.
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of California employment law, labor regulations, wage-and-hour rules, and CRD compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of employment law and regulatory environments across multiple U.S. states.
• Exceptional communication, listening, conflict resolution, discretion, composure, and emotional intelligence.
• Strong documentation, organization, execution, and case-management skills.
• Must be based in Sunnyvale or San Francisco, California, and able to work onsite five days per week.
