TL;DR
Senior HR Generalist / Employee Relations Specialist (Employee Relations and HR Operations): Building consistent employee relations, compliance, and people operations systems while managing investigations, leave, accommodations, and workplace support with an accent on California employment practices, policy governance, and operational scalability. Focus on designing case-management workflows, solving sensitive employee matters, and developing organizational health reporting and process improvements.

Location: Onsite in Torrance, California, United States; the role will ultimately relocate to the Long Beach, California facility.

Salary: $109,240–$150,210 USD annually.

Divergent develops the Divergent Adaptive Production System, an end-to-end manufacturing platform using machine learning, additive manufacturing, and flexible assembly for complex vehicle structures and subsystems. The company supplies global automotive OEMs and is expanding into aerospace and defense.

What you will do

  • Manage employee relations intake, investigations, fact-finding, documentation, case management, and resolution recommendations.
  • Advise managers and employees on workplace concerns, performance matters, conflicts, policy interpretation, and employee experience.
  • Administer leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, workers’ compensation coordination, return-to-work processes, and immigration cases.
  • Draft, maintain, communicate, and improve People policies, procedures, workflows, escalation frameworks, and self-service resources.
  • Develop reporting, dashboards, and organizational health insights to identify trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Legal, Payroll, Finance, Security, Talent Acquisition, business leaders, healthcare providers, and external vendors.

Requirements

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
  • Experience independently managing employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and employee support programs.
  • Experience applying California employment practices and workplace compliance requirements.
  • Experience administering leave, accommodations, workers’ compensation, or similar employee programs and partnering with Legal.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, relationship-building, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in a standard office environment and move throughout company facilities as needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting multi-state employee populations.
  • Experience with HRIS, case management platforms, Jira, Power BI, workflow tools, dashboards, or operational reporting.
  • Experience with workforce insights, organizational health metrics, immigration administration, and vendor coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Analytics, or a related field.
