Construction Inspector (Heavy Civil)

What you will do

• Inspect, observe, document, and verify contractor work on flood control and heavy civil construction projects.
• Monitor earthwork, excavation, rip rap installation, channel improvements, drainage, erosion control, and detention pond construction.
• Interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents to verify schedule, workmanship, and material compliance.
• Perform measurements, mathematical calculations, pay estimate computations, and on-site material testing.
• Maintain daily reports covering work activities, contractor labor, equipment, and verified material quantities.
• Prepare as-constructed sketches and other required project documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of construction inspection experience.
• Experience with heavy civil, transportation, or TxDOT projects and an understanding of road and bridge construction operations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to obtain required certifications and pass qualification tests within the specified time frames.
