Salary: $38.97–$46.39 per hour; annual pay of $81,052–$96,491 with 3–5 years of seniority

What you will do
- Inspect, repair, and maintain diesel locomotive engines and mechanical components.
- Repair running gear, including wheels, springs, hangers, brake rigging, and traction motors.
- Test and restore brake systems, couplers, draft systems, air compressors, safety valves, fuel systems, radiators, and related equipment.
- Install, disassemble, assemble, repair, and replace locomotive diesel engine components.
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, locomotive components, air equipment, and trucks.
- Diagnose diesel engine and mechanical malfunctions while following safety procedures in a safety-sensitive environment.
Requirements
- Ability to report for duty at the designated Lafayette work location.
- Ability to work without BNSF sponsorship or assistance for employment authorization.
- At least 18 years old by the anticipated start date.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week across nights, different shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime in a 24/7 mechanical shop.
- Ability to communicate in English, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, use hand tools, climb ladders, and work at various heights.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to work safely around noise, fumes, heavy machinery, uneven surfaces, and extreme weather.
