Senior Software Engineer, OS Ecosystem (AI)

Location: Chicago, United States

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 annually for roles performed from Illinois; ranges may vary for California, Colorado, and New York.

What you will do

• Design platform features for data modeling, schema versioning, and data contracts between producers and consumers.
• Build, test, and support backend web services and data pipelines using TypeScript and Python.
• Develop infrastructure for secure data ingestion, cataloging, analysis, and orchestration of algorithms and models.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical designs.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize reliability and performance as part of the support rotation.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in testing, documentation, and code review.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on platform engineering, data engineering, distributed data systems, or backend web services.
• Production experience with TypeScript, Python, or similar languages, with willingness to work primarily in Node.js and Python.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Experience with relational database design, application-level operations, and schema migrations.
• Experience monitoring production platform systems and handling internal support or on-call duties.
• Experience with GCP technologies including GCS, BigQuery, and Cloud Spanner; a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience with Google Spanner.
