Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; travel required in the DMV area

What you will do

• Build source adapters and connectors for APIs, legacy systems, databases, files, and event streams.
• Develop normalization, mapping, validation, enrichment, and standardization logic for a common risk-signal schema.
• Implement production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines with testing, observability, error handling, retries, and backfills.
• Produce and consume Kafka events for near-real-time signal delivery and downstream processing.
• Define and maintain data contracts, mappings, lineage, and reconciliation processes with architecture and domain specialists.
• Optimize pipeline throughput, latency, scalability, reliability, and operational documentation.

Requirements

• Must currently reside in the United States.
• Must maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of experience, or a master’s degree with 6–8 years of experience.
• 3–5 years of data engineering experience building production-grade ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Strong API integration and ETL/ELT experience in complex environments, including heterogeneous or legacy systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Java, SQL, NoSQL databases, REST/API frameworks, and Kafka or an equivalent streaming platform; IC/DoD experience is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or Java, REST/API frameworks, Kafka producers and consumers, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Strong engineering discipline, curiosity with messy source data, cross-functional collaboration, and an operational mindset.
