Salary: $320,000 - $405,000 USD

What you will do

• Build and operate data pipelines that extract research training data into fast, queryable storage systems.
• Design and develop APIs, libraries, and web interfaces to support data exploration and analysis for researchers.
• Develop tooling for dataset management, data cataloging, and provenance.
• Embed directly with research teams to identify tooling opportunities and ship solutions quickly.
• Collaborate with data infrastructure teams to leverage existing systems.

Requirements

• Significant software engineering experience building data-intensive applications or internal tooling.
• Based in or able to work from San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong ability to gather requirements iteratively from technical users and ship adopted products.
• Results-oriented mindset with a bias toward flexibility and impact.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale ETL, columnar storage, and query engines (e.g., Spark, BigQuery, DuckDB, Parquet).
• Experience with high-volume time series data ingestion and efficient querying.
• Knowledge of data cataloging, lineage, or ML experiment tracking platforms.
• Experience in research labs, trading firms, or observability/analytics startups.
• Skills in complex data visualization and full-stack web development.
