Senior or Staff Electrical Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end electrical architecture of an autonomous tractor platform, including harnesses, power distribution, CAN bus topology, sensor wiring, grounding, and shielding.
• Design and maintain authoritative wiring diagrams and electrical schematics for vehicle build, integration, and field servicing.
• Lead root cause investigations for electrical faults and system failures across the deployed fleet.
• Translate field failure findings into design improvements, updated build standards, and retrofit plans.
• Own electrical bring-up and validation for new platforms and major vehicle upfits.
• Coordinate component qualification, harness manufacturing, field integration, and collaboration with mechanical, software, autonomy, and field teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in automotive, autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace, industrial equipment, or a similar hardware-centric domain.
• Deep expertise in vehicle electrical systems, including harness and connector design, power distribution, CAN bus or other vehicle networking protocols, grounding, and EMC practices.
• Ability to create, read, and own complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Strong electrical fault analysis and root cause investigation experience, including converting field data into design improvements.
• Experience designing for reliability and serviceability in environments involving vibration, thermal cycling, moisture, and contamination.
• Ability to work independently and set technical direction across cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous vehicle or mobile robot electrical systems, multi-sensor integration, and embedded computing hardware.
• Familiarity with high-voltage vehicle architectures and safety and isolation requirements.
• Experience with harness fabrication vendors, contract manufacturers, and electrical assembly qualification.
• Background in electrical validation and verification programs, vehicle standards, or safety-critical system design.
• Early-stage company experience building electrical engineering infrastructure and design standards from scratch.
