Survey Party Chief

Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; travel to project sites is required.

Salary: CAD 65,000–94,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and supervise survey crews on construction, transportation, and land development projects.
• Plan and execute topographic, legal, construction layout, as-built, and deformation surveys.
• Operate GPS/GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, and digital levels.
• Verify field measurements and survey data for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate daily field activities, schedules, resources, and project-site requirements.
• Communicate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients while preparing field notes, reports, and documentation.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of field surveying experience, including experience leading survey crews.
• Strong proficiency with GPS/GNSS, total stations, and survey data collection software.
• Experience supporting transportation, municipal, infrastructure, or construction projects.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Leica, Trimble, or Topcon survey equipment.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey data processing software.
• Familiarity with Ontario construction and transportation projects.
• Experience working in remote and challenging field environments.
