Senior Engineering Manager for Security (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York City

Salary: $220K–$235K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own application security, cloud infrastructure security, detection and response, identity management, and AI security governance.
• Build and ship security controls through threat modeling, IAM hardening, code reviews, correlation rules, and pull requests with engineering teams.
• Define the AI security posture, including protection against prompt injection, tool misuse, and authorization-boundary failures.
• Build the detection and response pipeline from log sources and correlation rules through triage, incident runbooks, and on-call operations.
• Implement controls supporting SOC 2, PCI, and ISO requirements and ensure they withstand audits.
• Partner with engineering, GRC, IT, and infrastructure teams and lead technical responses to partner security reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in security engineering, including building a security function at an early stage.
• Experience shipping security controls and reviewing production code in Go, TypeScript, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience building a SIEM or SOAR detection pipeline from log sources through triage.
• Deep AWS security knowledge, including IAM policy design, multi-account strategies, and cloud privilege escalation.
• Experience operating within PCI DSS scope and shipping controls that passed a real audit.
• Comfort using AI tools to scale security work within existing architecture and review processes.

Nice to have

• Experience as an early security hire at a high-growth fintech or marketplace.
• Familiarity with card issuing, payment processing, or financial services infrastructure.
• Experience securing AI/ML systems, model pipelines, or AI-assisted development workflows.
