(Senior) Director, Business Development - AI Drug Discovery

Location: Remote in the United States; the salary range applies to work performed from Illinois and may vary for California, Colorado, and New York. Travel approximately 30–50%.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 base annually, with potential incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical benefits, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Establish and expand high-value AI drug discovery partnerships with large biopharma companies.
• Build account-based prospecting strategies for Discovery, Translational, and Clinical Development functions.
• Manage the enterprise sales process from outbound prospecting and RFP qualification through contracting and close planning.
• Work with pharma partners to connect Tempus offerings to R&D pipelines, programs, and research objectives.
• Develop relationships with R&D executives and identify repeat business opportunities across complex organizations.
• Collaborate with field teams, lab scientists, and computational biologists to create multimodal solutions and provide customer feedback for product evolution.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in life sciences business development, ideally in AI drug discovery.
• BS or MS in a biological discipline such as Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, or Computational Biology.
• Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle from target identification through clinical studies.
• Exceptional ability to explain complex scientific topics and present technical capabilities to executives and internal stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial, proactive approach and ability to work in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States and travel approximately 30–50%.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree such as a PhD, MS, or MBA.
