What you will do

• Control and monitor steam generation, condensate, feed water, turbine/generator, circulating water, fuel handling, ash handling, electrical, fire protection, and air pollution control systems.
• Read and interpret meters, gauges, recorders, and annunciators to determine operating conditions and take action according to normal and emergency procedures.
• Adjust and monitor temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and levels to optimize plant operations.
• Conduct surveillance tests, maintain operating logs and calculations, and report abnormal conditions, equipment malfunctions, and operational trends.
• Monitor pumps, motors, valves, fans, dampers, grates, augers, conveyors, dust collection systems, emergency equipment, and instrumentation.
• Understand and train other operators on facility systems, components, and steam cycles.

Requirements

• Valid Massachusetts Second Class Engineer’s license or higher, or at least three years of experience with high-pressure boilers and electric generating equipment, or formal technical training.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to identify and correct abnormal operating conditions and emergency situations.
• Ability to accurately read, record, and report operating data.
