Software Engineer II - Build Tools (Python)

Location: Remote in the US, or hybrid in Ann Arbor, Michigan

What you will do

• Build and maintain production infrastructure, developer tooling, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Design technology solutions, analyze requirements, and document architectures with diagrams and design documents.
• Write, test, integrate, and review scalable code using unit and integration testing practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, analyze production logs, and guide root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to support autonomous vehicle software releases and broader product delivery.
• Create runbooks, tutorials, API documentation, and user guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 0–3 years of experience.
• Strong independent judgment and the ability to handle critical challenges with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with AWS core services, including IAM, EC2, and S3, plus Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS.
• Fluency in an object-oriented language, preferably Python, with scripting or templating experience in Bash or Go.
• Hands-on experience with build tools such as Bazel, CMake, Maven, or Gradle, and code coverage tools such as Parasoft, SonarQube, or CodeQL.
• Experience with CI/CD, workflow orchestration, logging, and monitoring tools including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, ArgoCD, Temporal, AWS Step Functions, Argo Workflows, Datadog, CloudWatch, or New Relic.

Nice to have

• Experience with JFrog Artifactory or similar artifact and package registries.
• Familiarity with safety-critical or embedded software practices, including MISRA C static analysis or VectorCAST.
• Exposure to C or C++ in addition to Python.
